About the show:
Modern Sounds – with the Irish Composers Collective
The contemporary music scene of Dublin has exploded and this hour long show offers you the chance to hear some of the music of up-and-coming composers in
The Irish Composers' Collective is a group of composers and performers of
contemporary music. It primarily serves as a collaborative organisation that creates
concerts of music composed by its members with professional musicians. The ICC
was founded in 2003 and has since grown from strength to strength. In November
2014 to celebrate its 10th anniversary, ICC hosted a mini festival entitled ICC10
which featured 8 diverse concerts in 2 days and premiered over 40 new works. From
January to July 2015 ICC ran the highly successful Strung Series, a four part concert
series that explored the varied role of the violin in the 21st century through four
world-class players from different backgrounds. The non-profit organisation strives to
further the professional development of their members at an early stage in their
careers. ICC currently have over 70 members from backgrounds as diverse as jazz,
electronica and traditional music.
