Gach seachtain ar Cultúr sa Chathair, Déanfaidh Oireachtas na Gaeilge plé ar chultúr na nGael agus gach a bhaineann leis; litríocht; ceoil; damhsa; scéalaíocht; amhránaíocht; agallamh beirte, lúibíní agus neart eile. Cuirtear agallaimh ar dhaoine spéisiúla i saol an chultúir agus cloistear neart amhrán, ceoil, neart scéalta suimiúla agus go leor leor eile.
Each week on Cultúr sa Chathair, Oireachtas na Gaeilge will explore Irish Language and culture; Irish Literature; An Ghaeilge; music; storytelling; singing; agallamh beirte; lúibíní and lots more.
Oireachtas na Gaeilge was founded in 1897 and has been growing ever since. Oireachtas na Gaeilge is committed to promoting Irish-medium traditional arts and modern Iris-language literature. They organise a wide range of events throughout the year to celebrate these art forms; Comórtas Liteartha – literacy competitions which gives writers of all ages a platform to promote their work; Gradaim Chumarsáide – Irish Language Media Awards which celebrates the work of presenters, actors, productions that are promoting the Irish language through the medium of television, radio, internet and more; Oireachtas na Samhna - the major annual festival and highlight of the events calendar held at Halloween. Stage competitions such as Sean-Nós dancing, Sean-Nós singing, story-telling, new compositions, various different musical instruments and more are held as part of the festival which is ran over 5 days. As well as competitions, there are many music sessions, conferences, seminars, exhibition, dramas, launches and much more. As well as the main annual events, there are many new events being incorporated into to Oireachtas na Gaeilge’s calendar; Galf Gaelach, Oíche Chultúir, Oíche Nollag na mBan, Féile Pan Cheilteach, Rásaí and many more event ideas on the horizon.
